
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Lindsey Vonn didn’t want to know how badly she might have hurt her right leg when she tumbled over her skis during a slalom training run in Austria nine days ago, so she refused to have X-rays.
“I didn’t want to hear that my shin was fractured,’’ the world’s best female skier said yesterday morning. “Because at the time, that’s what it felt like.’’
Until she takes a practice run today - her first time on skis since she sustained a deep tissue bruise when her boot jammed into her lower leg - Vonn won’t know whether she can race in Sunday’s super combined or even compete in the Olympics at all.
